Burn / Redeem
Burning destroys tokens, removing them from circulation. Burning is typically used to redeem underlying collateral or retire tokens at end of life. The vault must own the token contract to perform a burn.

Required role: A role with the Initiate Payment permission to create the movement, or the Approve Payment permission to sign it.
Required permissions: PAYMENT_INIT to initiate, PAYMENT_APPROVE to sign.
Prerequisites: The vault must own the token contract. The vault must hold sufficient token balance.
- Navigate to the Movements page.
- Select Create Movement.
- Movement Type. Select Burn / Redeem.
- Source & Destination. Select the vault holding the tokens to burn.
- Amount & Asset. Select the token. Enter the amount to burn. Optionally add a description. Set the priority.
- Review & Submit. Verify the summary, policy checks, and required signatures. Select Submit Movement.
What happens next: The movement enters Pending status. All signers on the vault receive a notification. When the threshold is met, the burn is finalised and broadcast. See The signing workflow.
