Workspaces

A workspace is an isolated operating environment within your organisation. Workspaces separate different operational contexts. A user's role and permissions in one workspace have no effect in another.

Common reasons to create separate workspaces include separating different asset types or token programmes, maintaining distinct governance boundaries for different teams, and running independent policy configurations for different programmes.

Each workspace has its own set of vaults, token deployments, policies, whitelists, user role assignments, and audit history. Each workspace is also set to a single Bitcoin network, either mainnet or testnet. Vaults and tokens you create inherit the network of their workspace.

#Creating a workspace

Required role: Owner, or a role with the Create Workspace permission.

Required permissions: CREATE_WORKSPACE

Prerequisites: You must be signed in and have selected the organisation where you want to create the workspace.

1. Open the workspace selector and select Create Workspace.
2. Enter a name for the workspace. Choose a name that identifies its purpose, for example "Treasury Operations" or "Token Programme A".
3. Enter an optional description.
4. Select the network for the workspace. Choose Mainnet for live operations.
5. Select Create.

The new workspace appears in your workspace list. You can switch to it immediately.

What happens next: The workspace is created with no users, vaults, or policies. Before any operations can take place, you invite users, assign roles, and create at least one vault.

Required role: Owner, or a role with the Manage Workspace permission.

Required permissions: MANAGE_WORKSPACE

1. Switch to the workspace you want to edit.
2. Open the workspace settings.
3. Update the workspace name or description.
4. Save your changes.
